At El Portico de la Candelaria the living room is the first room you enter from the street. Like most of the houses in Merida it´s not where you end up living for most of the day and night. In fact most life in the Yucatan happens out of doors. The portico salon on the patio garden and the open plan kitchen on the way to the pool are the heart of the home.
El Portico has three bedrooms. It is an easy house to share as they are all in separate areas insuring more privacy. The blue guest room is on the first floor overlooking the Portico and Garden. The second floor guest room over looks the pool. The master bedroom is across the patio garden above the portico. The master suite has a private terrace and roof garden.
The Kitchen was reconstruction on the ruins of the old kitchen, apart from the house in the garden as was the custom in colonial times. One side opens to the cool patio garden and the other to the sunny pool area which has dining for 8 under the pergola.
