Casa Sisal is a sleek modern oasis surrounded by Mayan ruins and colonial Spanish haciendas and convents. Floating above a vast green lawn surrounded by lily ponds sits this contemporary home designed by the talented team of Salvador Reyes Rios and Josphina Larrain for the owners of the Casa des Maquinas – Hacienda Sac Chich. Joined through an antique colonial gate to the old property this separate home is totally private in it’s two acre walled garden that was once the hacienda henequen drying field. Casa Sisal is constructed of beautiful tropical hard woods, local limestone and plaster polished to a sleek finish by the ancient Mayan technique called chukum.
The configuration of the property makes it ideal to share with friends or family. The two bedrooms and bathrooms are at opposite ends of the house. The master bedroom has a king and the guest bedroom has two queen sized beds. In the center is a large open living area with receding glass doors that invite the outdoors in. The sunken living room has a long comfortable banquette in front of a fireplace. There is screen monitor for viewing DVD’s and the integrated sound system is ipod ready. The dining table set for 8 and the kitchen is completely modern and furnished. The long infinity-edged pool extends from the front patio into the garden. On clear nights the stars are reflected in the pool and ponds and there is a moon viewing deck on the roof terrace with views of the roofs of the old hacienda.
Casa Sisal is walking distance to the village of Acanceh and just 10 minutes from the Cancun / Merida highway. Merida is a 30 minutes drive to the west and Chichen Itza and the magical town of Izamal are 45 minutes to the east.
